Keith Finds A "Better Life" With Nicole

Nashville, TN (AHN) - After months of silence while he was in rehab, Keith Urban is now singing both his wife's praises and songs from his latest album.

The Australian country music star, who spent three months in the Betty Ford clinic for alcohol abuse, has called his Oscar winning wife Nicole Kidman "a ray of sun" in his life.

Talking to German magazine Stern, he said, "There's a handful of songs on the record that were inspired by her and by the way my life changed when we met - so much for the better. She was a good ray of sun in my life. I didn't intend to write any songs about her. I just wrote, and obviously what was coming out was how I was feeling."

The couple, who married in Sydney in June last year, have had a rough time during their short union. While Urban was in rehab, a model claimed he had an affair with her.

He said, "We've gone through a lot in the last three months and I think it's been the strength of our marriage (that) has carried both of us through. I know and God knows where my heart is at. I waited 39 years before I got married. It means everything to me to be married. Like everybody, I really want to do it only once. I'm very loyal in that respect, and committing to somebody means once that ring is on, I'm gonna stay."

The newlyweds, who are living in Nashville, also plan to have children together, to add to Kidman's two adopted kids.

However, the Grammy winning singer says he is in no rush and wants to concentrate on getting back on stage.

He concluded, "I spent six months working on an album, and you know, I was in rehab when the record came out. So I am really looking forward to finally performing."

Their roots lie in the Country. Is that because of the fact that they grew up on an Australian farm? They can milk cows and ride horses.
Probably. I believe, the Australians am actually very earthconnected. I am simultaneous with the Country music grown up, which my father liked so, went everything hand in hand. But I spent much time in the city also in my youth, therefore much skirt and Pop mix into my music.

Was the influence of your father how large? It was Drummer in volume.
I had always music in me, that am like that on the family side of my father: Its father was a piano teacher, and its father was a pianist, many of my uncles played instruments. My father loved Country, therefore I had also fallen in love with it. But it liked also Rock'n'Roll, particularly from the 50ern and 60ern. My nut/mother likes Neil dia. moon and the Everly Brothers, my brother heard Supertramp and Fleetwood Mac. That mixed itself everything.

The first song, which you played on the guitar, was allegedly also no Country hit, but the skirt classical author "House OF the raising sun".That was however only because of the fact that I had first learned the chords for it and my guitar teacher meant then: So, now you can play, House OF the raising sun '.

What do you hold with bon Jovi or Bryan Adam to be compared?
I believe music at the end am music simply, and the people become rausfinden, which artist likes them. But Bryan helped me very much, I was for the first time with it in Europe on route.

Would you compare yourselves with someone?
With someone did not determine. I refer to different artists. I love the Spiritualitaet of U2 and the kind, as Country music tells stories. Also photographs of Bryan Adam sound still mad.

Actually you are considered as guitar God. On the new album you play also piano.
I control the bases, I play like a guitarist, the piano play. But fits the Song ("Once in A lifetime").

No further surprise instruments?
Didgeridoo for example? No.

The new album is called "Love, Pain & the whole crazy thing". Or does pain love - which of it has for you a larger role played?
Both. I out wrote the songs from very strong fall in love-falling in love its. But if one risks it, to be loved, makes evenly also susceptible to pain.

Nearly the whole album sounds like a declaration of love to her Mrs. Nicole.
Yes, there is a hand fully songs, to those it me inspired and also the fact, how very much she turned my life to the good one. It is a sunbeam in my life. I did not intend to write Songs over it. I wrote simply - and is obviously exactly the rausgekommen, which I feel.

Does your music like it?
She likes the songs over itself, all the others not (laughs)


"I estimate the simple things in the life again"

When you learned yourselves to know, you could not do both much of the work of the other one.
I knew in any case more about it, what makes her, as it over me. At the same time I was surprised, as I could not do many of its films. But that was good. We did not come therefore together. Simply two humans were at the correct time in the life.

Many of your Song texts sound very optimistic.
I find, that am the only choice, which one has: to strive at least for optimism, above all, if it becomes difficult. If you concentrate on the problem, the problem grows. If you concentrate on the solution, then the solution grows. I have a strong confidence into me that I can do everything, and try, to put my energy into positive things. Sometimes that is hard, but said like Monty Pythons: "Always look on the bright side OF life"¬ - always on the cheerful side of the life look (laughs)

From where do you take this confidence? Loves? God?
Not from the religion, it is rather Spiritualitaet. Those are two different things for me. I define religion as something for humans, who would not like to hell. And Spiritualitaet is for the people, which do not want there back.

They have three very hard months behind itself, alcohol withdrawal in the Betty Ford hospital. Nevertheless you work absolutely well gelaunt and optimistically. How can that be done?
The past three months changed my life. Because I had the opportunity to explore my soul to travel to my inside. Therefore I sit here full gratitude and a clarity, which I did not have before. Evenly for the example I went in the t-Shirt on the balcony and fresh air inhaled - I estimate the simple things in the life again. I found a quantity out over me, who I am and how I became in such a way. I have myself to find one moment out time taken over, how I can continue in the correct direction. And again the same fights do not lose as in former times.

And which is the correct direction?
In April I will go into Europe on tour, and whereupon I am pleased much. My music got a completely new meaning for me. I hear it with new ears and feel her with changed heart. I learned in the past three months to set priorities. My family is very, very important to me. I would like to be the best married man, who can only be I, the best son, brother, uncle. On it I really worked.

The cocaine withdrawal 1998, now the alcohol withdrawal. Do you have fear that you become again backdue?
I know that I must be watchful each day, until I am completely healthy. That applies to everyone, which makes a withdrawal. But I do not howl not daily before loud panic on the couch, so dramatically am it.

Was the support how important by your wife for you, while you were in the hospital?
Very importantly. Three months are a long time, for me them felt like an eternity. Owing to Nicole I got over it.

During the withdrawal a Unterwaeschemodel stated an affair with you to have had.

Did this Intermezzo affect your marriage?

We would have gladly a family, if the correct time came. The most important for me is however for the moment my album. I worked six months on it - and then I was in the hospital, when it appeared. Thus I look forward to finally arise with the Songs.
